Mosque to Host Open Day to Promote Peace
A mosque in Bolton is set to host an open day event organised by Seek2Change – a newly formed organisation.
The founders include: Hammad Shafiq, Sajid Hussain, and Yasar Arfan. The team also includes sisters, one of whom is a qualified chaplain. They are inspired and guided by the teachings of Sheikh Ahmad Dabbagh. Seek2Change aims to promote peace and understanding among people of all faiths and those with no faith.
Hammad Shafiq, a qualified pharmacist and business owner, is also a Hafiz of the Quran. Sajid Hussain is a qualified optometrist with an established group of practices across the south of the UK. He is not only an entrepreneur but also a self-development coach. Yasar Arfan, a mathematics graduate working in the civil service, is a content developer dedicated to promoting the teachings of peace in an easy-to-understand way.
Sajid said: “We want to convey Islam and spread the message of peace. Our idea behind inviting non-Muslims to the mosque is to show them what goes on behind mosque doors and educate them.”
Sheikh Dabbagh’s profound wisdom has deeply influenced the mission of Seek2Change. One of his quotes, which has inspired the team is: “We are not in the business of creating followers, but in making leaders who are inspired and have that paradigm shift to bring about peace upon themselves, their families, their neighbours and their country. That will then contribute towards peace across the whole world.
“So have intentions for peace across the whole of the earth by bringing peace upon your own body, mind, and heart.”

The event, scheduled for Thursday 15 February at 5 pm at the Madina Mosque, will offer practical sessions aimed at helping attendees find inner peace and reduce stress through mindfulness techniques. They are expecting between 50-60 people at the event.
“We want to convey the universal message of peace and spread it across the world,” said one of the organisers, emphasising the organisation’s commitment to creating harmony and understanding among all ethnicities and religions.
“Our aim is to make the world a better place to live. Inter faith work is an intrinsic part of what we do,” Sajid added.
The event will also include activities such as sharing quotes from various scriptures, including the Quran, and engaging attendees in discussions about their origins. Seek2Change believes that by promoting dialogue and understanding, they can contribute to a better world for all.

Great initiative – at a time of polarisation within our communities and sense of mental anxiety due to economic crisis and a circle of fear of others, this is much needed to quell fears and transform frustrations into positive energy of fortifying peace. Looking forward to the open day
